A few years ago, Southwark Council
started its 'Streetleader' scheme, which was a way of getting residents to report environmental and other problems. The idea was that these reports would be acted on swiftly and an audit would be done to show how the council was responding. It acutally worked quite well for a while.
Then the guy who ran it moved on, and it seems to have died. Nobody ever actually announced it, and it's still advertised on Southwark's website, but when I made enquiries this week I was told it's been wound up. Seems a shame really. The Environment dept does a reasonable job of clearing up fly-tipping etc when it's reported but they're very weak on the enforcement side of things. Anyone else got any thoughts?
