Just as a warning to those who live in the area - as I passed through the city walk/vesta court area between morocco st and long lane this evening there was a group of about 6 youths (2 on bikes, 1 with a dog from a horror movie) who were pulling themselves up onto the top of the garden walls of the ground floor flats to peer inside.

I'm guessing they were not a neighborhood watch patrol, so keep your valuables out of sight etc.

Ther have been a load of buglaries in the local area lately....this would seem to be a prelude to possibly more.

might be worth letting the local neighbourhood team know

Thank gor the info but I don't think London SE1 is the right place for this warning. Only after 101 or 999 depending on the situation... Otherwise these criminals will just keep having a wonderful harvest. On and on.

Orione - I think it is an excellent place to post the information.

As a result, I informed our Google Group and Managing Agent, and the latter informed the security company who patrol the area. I have also informed the local neighbourhood police team.

Job done!

In fact if you read, I did not say not to post this but to make sure more effective means are alerted. Good anyway...
As long as these idiots are taken out of the streets.

I agree with that: I think this forum is the place to use first and foremost to use in these situations. I lived in Cape Town for some time and the neighborhood watch in our area actually operated by way of a community forum.

I too agree that this is the ideal place to post info like this. It might actually enable people to do something to prevent crime rather than dealing with the aftermath.
A neighbour of mine once spotted 3 suspicious youths hanging around an elderly neighbour's place down the road. We "recruited" two more guys from our block and just walked past, without paying attention, just chatting and making our presence felt. We got to the end of the street and turned back. From a distance, we saw the youths make their way. We kept an eye on the lady's house, but never saw the youths again.

I stick to what Ihave said. Too many times people report problems to other members of the community but not too the right bodies who specialise on it.
So again the warnings in this forum cannot replace 101 and 999. Those are the numbers. As for the rest do what you please
More info is often better than less.
