Sounds good. I'd be keen if it was in Bermondsey Sq.

Bermondsey Sq would be a great location but the hard, paved surface isn't appropriate -gravel or shallow sand would be good. You'd need to construct a terrain like the one in Hays Galleria or at the least a 2mx12/13m frame with sand or matting. Why not galvanise local interest and campaign/lobby for one amongst local businesses or find a nearby gravel open space/park area. Come and speak to the London Pétanque Association on Thursday for advice. A Bankside - Borough - Bermondsey tournament/derby sounds good to me.

Isn't the current gravelled area designed for boule?

It is indeed and oft used. Boules are available from all establishments in the Square, including reception for the development, next to Del'Aziz.

I wasn't aware there was a gravelled area in Bermondsey Sq. That's great if there is. Maybe you could get www.teamlondonbridge.co.uk involved and the Bermondsey St Festival organisers to help establish regular Boules playing there. Come to Boules on Thursday and get advice from London Pétanque Association

There is a petanque/boule area in Hay's Galleria, right by the boat sculpure.

There was a good turn out for the launch of Bankside & Borough Boules at the Boules terrain, Park St/Maiden Lane junction last Thursday. Fading light stopped play at 8.pm, though with respect to local residents, we wouldn't have played beyond then. The 2 guys Colin and Bruce from the London Pétanque club were great; explaining the game to novices and giving tips on techniques. A glass of pastis added to the relaxed late summer evening atmosphere.
We'll be there again 5.30-7.30 this Thursday 13th and every Thursday thereafter when decent weather and light allow.
Bar Blue opposite the terrain and The Market Porter and Anchor Pub are close by watering holes.
Already popular and tight for space at Maiden Lane terrain, we'll be launching Boules at Mint St Park (Marshalsea Rd/Southwark Bridge Rd) on Tuesday 18th 5.30-7.30pm for regular Tuesday sessions as well. The Lord Clyde and Goldsmiths are near by.
Come and join novices, part-timers, enthusiasts and aficionados at either location. Boules provided or bring your own.
