Does anyone know what happened on Southwark Street this morning? The whole left lane of BHS heading to LBR was closed off, police tape all around the Slug and Lettuce and HSBC and a car sitting on Southwark Street with a smashed front window. I thought they'd robbed the bank at first.

There was a broken down bus on BHS, the car accident may have come afterwards.

Thank you. There must have been something else, or why would they tape off the whole block? Also, closing down BHS seemed a bit excessive. Odd... Oh, it seems both incidents were indeed unrelated: accident on Southwark Street first and then the broken down bus on BHS. Hope it wasn't anything serious.

The radio travel news was reporting a collision between a motorcycle and a bus.

Then later they said another bus had broken down nearby which added to the problem.

Thank you James. It was pretty chaotic...The police opened up BHS at the Marshalsea Rd end, but there was still a police Range Rover sitting on the n/b lane facing south, so they had to stop all n/b traffic and make the cyclists dismount to let the Range Rover out, while some of the more impatient cyclists reasoned that the quickest way to get ahead was the pavement and despite the huge police presence none jumped in to organise things. The driver of the Range Rover looked like he was close to panicking... Anyway, I hope all involved are OK.
