Keeping the memory alive
is in the process of relocating its war memorials from the former Southwark Town Hall on Peckham Road to the atrium at 160 Tooley Street
and we'd greatly appreciate the help of the SE1 Forum in trying to locate any living relations of those listed on them. We'd very much like to invite them to a rededication ceremony at 10am on Wednesday 27 March 2013 and to involve a representative in it.
The memorials are dedicated to staff of the Old Metropolitan Borough of Camberwell who gave their lives during the two World Wars.
The relocation and rededication comes in time for the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War in 2014. It also marks a further step in the consolidation of 160 Tooley Street
as the council's flagship building.
The Bishop of Southwark, the Right Reverend Christopher Chessun, will take part in the ceremony and will be joined by other religious leaders as well as representatives of the armed forces.
The Mayor of Southwark, the Leader of the Council, and the Chief Executive will attend. Members of the public are also most welcome to join us.
If you can help us to trace any living relations, please contact the Mayor of Southwark's Office on 020 7525 7303 or firstname.lastname@example.org
You can also use my direct contact details at the end of this posting or reply in the forum.
