Hi All,

Please could we bring to your attention the proposed closure of Southwark Fire Station.
Through talking with local residents it has become apparent that many people are not aware of the plans to close Southwark Fire Station, or that there is a public consultation process with regards to this currently underway.
If you have internet access you can access the consultation by following this link https://www.citizenspace.com/app/london-fire-brigade/lsp5/consult_view
Or to receive a paper consultation, that can be completed and sent back for free, you can call 0800 9888 569. The paper version is much easier to fill in. You need only answer the questions that matter the most to you
Closing date for consultation – 17 June 2013
Thank you,
Southwark Fire Station Firefighters.

It's so important that as many local residents attend this meeting as possible. We are also interested to hear from any Tenants & Residents Associations who would like a speaker at their next meeting prior to the 14th May.

Here is a link to the London Fire Brigade Website http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/lsp5.asp#.UWLi56KG2So where you will find links (on the right hand side) to the LSP5 documents, not just the plan itself but the supporting documentation which makes interesting reading.
The LFB plan to close 12 fire stations and remove 18 fire engines which is about 10% of the LFB. In return for this the Mayor is going to cut your council tax by 1p a day.
Not a good deal to me.

Thanks for posting. Given the severity of fires in recent years in SE1 these cuts aren't safe or sensible.

Could someone from the Southwark Fire Station please contact me, as I would like to invite a speaker to our next TRA meeting.

Thanks

The meeting at City Hall tomorrow, regarding the closure of local Fire Stations, which has been arranged by Councillors Peter John and Val Shawcross, was widely advertised locally with a start time of 7pm.

The meeting is actually starting at 6pm.

It will be held at Committee Room 4 and 5, Greater London Authority, City Hall, The Queen’s Walk, London SE1 2AA.

Just to make people aware of the actual start time

This is just a reminder that the public consultation meeting over the plans to close Southwark fire station and remove a fire engine from Peckham is next Tuesday 14th May at City Hall,The Queen's Walk, London SE1 2AA at 7pm in rooms 4-5.

If you can't make it you can make your feelings know by taking part in the online consultation at http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/lsp5.asp#.UWLi56KG2So

In exchange the Mayor wants to cut your council tax by the princely sum of 1p a day. If the closures go ahead you will wait longer for the fire brigade to arrive (up to 1 min 38 secs in some parts of the Borough).

tinyurl.com/c9r2lqu Watch this video and think about how long 1:38 mins is when you're waiting for a fire engine to arrive. Once the station and fire engines are gone it will be too late to complain.

Do all these residential new builds and refurbs have sprinkler systems?

and what station/s would SE1 be served by,Dockhead? Vauxhall?

!min 38 secs could be the difference between life and death!
