I can't believe I didn't know this site existed:
http://www.bermondseyboy.net/2010/08/16/bermondsey-yesterday-and-today/

It's an incredible photographic record of SE1/SE16 by past and present residents, with some delicious anecdotes of what it was like living here.

I am hooked at trawling through their archives at what used to exist here and a little saddened how much has been lost during the war etc. The 'before and after' images are stunning.

This site may have been mentioned before but a project of this detail and scope should be truly acknowledged. Fantastic effort Fosney.

Enjoy!

The pictures of Tower Bridge could do with an update - it looks so different already with the new block being built.

My name is John Meeks and Harry Lush, the greengrocer in Grange Road, was my mother's brother. My mother, Lilian Meeks (nee Lush), is from a large family of costermongers and before she died
left extensive information about life in Grange Road from the 1920s onwards. Any relations of Harry Lush can contact me with details they may find of interest.
