Apparently, the Health Secretary and the Prime Minister were in SE1 to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the NHS by Atlee's government in a period of public austerity after World War II.

Why wasn't this publicised in advance?

You'd almost think they didn't want us to go there to share our views on their stewardship of this legacy with them.

Hope the kids gave them what for.

I remember when I was on a psych ward at Guys and some health secretary wanted to visit. We made it very clear that if they were to come on to the ward, they would have to sit down with us and answer questions from us about the appalling lack of funding for mental health services (if only we still had that level of service now!). Said health secretary sent one of his underlings instead who was most uncomfortable!
