Southwark Firefighters In Action Again

For a fire station which apparently can be closed down and is surplus to requirements - they are having a busy time, this time off the Walworth Road.

From the London Fire Brigade website:

Fire crews tackled a fire in a house on Asolando Drive, SE17 this afternoon.

Part of the ground floor was badly damaged.

A woman left the building before the Brigade arrived and was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

Four fire engines, two from Lambeth fire station and one each from Peckham and ]Southwark fire stations, went to the scene.

Twenty one firefighters and officers tackled the blaze.

They were called at 1235 and the fire was under control by 1310.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
