I have just seen on the news at ten that NHS direct is withdrawing from the contract to supply the 111 service to south east London ( amongst others). Their own website says "In South East London, we are working in partnership with GP OOHs providers Grabadoc and Bromley Healthcare to deliver the service"... Apart from increased pressure on Accident and Emergency in an already strained system does anyone have any other ideas on what the implications will be for the Southwark/SE1 area?

I heard about this in the news. I actually had cause to use the 111 service the weekend before last and I have to say I was impressed by the service - it seems to be more integrated and they arranged an appointment at Guy's and everything.

However, why waste money changing from the NHS Direct system?

Good to hear that you had a positive experience with the 111 service.. I'm wondering if the NHS direct withdrawal is an anticipation of a winter crisis to come..and that they are simply not being financed sufficiently to combat it.
