According to the news section, the twice rejected mayoral candidate, Brian Paddick, is to join the House of Lords - http://www.london-se1.co.uk/news/view/7000

So, a politician who's never been elected to anything gets to sit in parliament, voting on laws that affect us all.

This is a funny idea of 'democracy'.

And Sir Anthony Bamford, whose company makes diggers, gets to do the same.

I wonder why the multimillionaire, who has donated 2.5m to the Conservative Party, was chosen?

Probably for the same reason that the person donating millions to Labour was appointed!

Yes, but he didn't do all that well in The Apprentice...

...if you press it, they will come.

That would be James Palumbo who "has given around 600,000 to the Lib Dems as well as offering up his London super-club as a campaign headquarters for the party"

I'm sure he's there on merit, though.

Almost certainly not; it's always best to release the energy. You'll feel lighter.

Neil,
Please don't be so reticent, name and shame the person donating millions to the Labour Party because I would like to know who he/she is as, I am sure, the treasurer of the party would too.
Brian Paddick may have failed in two attempts to become Mayor but it took the beautiful Oona just one failed attempt to get into the Lords. Oh I forgot she lost her parliamentary seat to Gorgeous George so that is the two failures required then.
I am full of good cheer now that I know we will be in safe hands of losers.
