And the fire brigade came... from Paddington.

Until a few weeks ago they'd have been barely a minute away.

I'm guessing the nearer remaining stations had already been summoned to the fatal building debris calamity in Holborn. All the same, a pretty clear example of what we've lost lately on SBR.

A local fire engine from Dockhead was there too.

The Paddington crew was in fire rescue unit, so a more specialised vehicle.

Thank you. They appeared to have re-opened late last night, but now it's closed again.

This has to be a slap in the face for the architect with offices right across the street! Making unsafe buildings... Tut!

I think it's just a precaution in light of what happened in Holborn. That wind last night was quite exceptional, in 16 years in the same building I have not experienced anything similar. If this was a test for those buildings, seems to me they stood it quite well.

Will be interesting to see how long until they're satisfied the dangling cladding is 'secure' before they re-open the area and allow M&S Simply Foods to start trading again.

They'll just remove/fix it before monday morning is my guess. I hope the M&S workers are not on a zero-hour contract.
