Is a dump still?

Any person responsible for a care home, and the staff working under them, should be held fully accountable for their actions or inactions, as the case may be.

The old nazi 'just following orders' mantra should not apply in case of blatant neglect.

If these so called 'care workers' have been complicit in this appalling lack of care (by way of not reporting failures and abuses), they deserve to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I remember when southern cross owned it and several people died in a very short time. In fact there used to be posters up in Tower Bridge Rd., accusing them of neglect and murder. When enquiring about nursing homes for someone was told they are not placing any one there by Social worker ' because of issues' I remember visiting there with my Mum who was in a wheelchair, there were two lifts and only one was working! I think covert cameras should be placed by relatives concerned about general running of the place, because some staff are frightened to speak out.

And do the council inform Nursing/Care homes of inspections well in advance still? There should be spot checks.

I wonder if Southern Cross still own it, but have just put it in someone elses name?

I hope that LBS clears the way for covert cameras to be installed, by relatives, the Council itself and by the police.

As far as I'm concerned inspections should be unannounced in order to achieve maximum effectiveness.

When I think of the lovely St.Olaves Nursing home closing yearss ago I could cry. If the council could demolish that and build there would be fortunes to be made. There is something that made sure the building would be used for NHS..cant remember why possibly because it was part of the old St.Olaves hospital? may even be demolished now, was in
Ann Moss way near Anne Moss specialist care unit.
