Anyone seen any local polling for "Bermondsey and Old Southwark"? Is Simon Hughes in with a chance of getting back? I think Coyle might pay a price for being in the same party as Brexit-enabling Corbyn, even though he voted against article 50

Judging by the amount of effort and money the Lib-Dems are putting into canvassing round here, they must think Simon Hughes stands a good chance. Personally I'll vote for any candidate who promises to fight a rearguard action against Brexit, up to and including bloody insurrection. Given that Neil Coyle has shown no loyalty to the party line or to his leader, perhaps he is the man for the job.

He could well be, but a vote for him is a vote for Corbyn, a closet Brexiteer. I will therefore support Simon Hughes. I am a social democrat at heart, but will support the LibDems solely based on their stance on Brexit.

I too will fight Brexit until the very end. I hate it.

As some apparently wish to be ruled undemocratically from Brussels Strasbourg let's cut out the middle man cos seems no point in us democratically electing UK representstIves and let's close down Parliament completely and sell off the Monarchy etc. BREXIT means self government and sovereign rule. Our sovereign rule. Get it!

Where are the Socialist workers banners? It's like being at University again. What time is the Folk Club? We are where we are. Wake up. Smell the coffee!

If the Brexit faction is so keen on democracy, when will we be getting a democratically elected upper house and head of state? Maybe even an electoral system that allows representation of a fuller range of views in the electorate. I must have missed those proposals.

And as for "BREXIT means self government and sovereign rule. Our sovereign rule." - I presume you've never studied the text of free trade agreements, such as the WTO rules or TTIP. They all involve the surrender of sovereignty, and the bilateral ones (like the ones we'll be entering into after Brexit) tend to favour the larger, stronger party (ie practically any significantly sized economic power that it would be worthwhile an 'independent' UK negotiating such an agreement with). The UK hasn't been in a position to have 'sovereign rule' since the start of the First World War.

I wish the world were as simple as it seems to be in your mind.

You are clearly a person who has strong beliefs and who does not like other people who have different beliefs or who pursue a different way of life.
