So no riot then, just loud revellers. Fake news, basically.

Spot the difference...

Riot:

A riot is a form of civil disorder commonly characterized by a group lashing out in a violent public disturbance against authority, property or people. Riots typically involve vandalism and the destruction of property, public or private. The property targeted varies depending on the riot and the inclinations of those involved. Targets can include shops, cars, restaurants, state-owned institutions, and religious buildings.

Noise:

Noise is unwanted sound judged to be unpleasant, loud or disruptive to hearing. From a physics standpoint, noise is indistinguishable from sound, as both are vibrations through a medium, such as air or water. The difference arises when the brain receives and perceives a sound.

I guess the thread title "People enjoy Christmas celebrations on a Saturday night until a reasonable hour given central London location" wasn't available?

In the same spirit...

A series of explosions ripped through Waterloo and surrounding areas on Friday afternoon. Shouting and screams were heard amidst the chaos as plumes of smoke rose up in the affected areas.

Police have said that this latest outbreak of Christmas crackers is unprecedented.

Maybe the Thread title is misleading, but I wouldn't want to live with that noise and drunken antisocial behaviour on my doorstep.
I have to put up with the ratted students going past my window once a week on their way to the ministry of sound and then hearing them coming back and that is enough for me. Screaming , shouting , kicking the trash bags about (as the next day is rubbish collection) they don't just walk through but stand for ages shouting at each other in the loudest drunken voices.
I have to go to work and would love them to use another street .
Before anyone says , I've lived here over 30 years and yes I know it's central London but that doesn't mean anyone should have to put up with drunken behaviour.

Living locally, I wondered if I should call the police as there appeared to be extensive fighting taking place. Sorry if this is't as exciting as a riot, but I would rather not be kept awake by people fighting and yelling in the street. I know, you would think I would welcome the chance to sit up and write angry comments on online forums, but I prefer sleep. I'm odd like that. Having been kept up until 1.30am I was then really pleased to have the same thing happen again that night, oh the joy it brought me.

I have posted a few times about the unrelenting anti social behaviour i and other residents suffer in Meadow Row and Rockingham street when there a certain Coronet evenings. One of my neighbours was actually attacked a couple of weeks ago because he was taking photos of the goings on.

Why do people have to write nasty and unhelpful comments; I can only assume they were actually disappointed that there wasn't a 'riot' to read about. If you don't live near this street you have no idea how loud the noise is, and how much we are inconvenienced. Too many incidents of anti social behaviour to list, I will just comment that on one ordinary night in May, I had a professional noise test done in my bedroom on the 11th floor - with the windows closed - and the noise level was above recommended levels for resting and sleeping. And this noise happens every week. Well actually, I will list two common acts of anti social behsour that spills out into our garden - urinating, deficating and oral sex. So it's not just the noise and fighting.
