Does anybody know why the two big buildings from Delancey on top of Sainsburys in E&C are still empty?
They were probably completed one year ago (the outside at least) and Sainsburys opened on the ground floor 6 months ago.

Presumably because they were sold off-plan in somewhere like Singapore and they will never have anyone in them?

Tom - the scheme is designed for rental rather than purchase, on the same model as many of the homes at the Olympic Park.

The idea is to let them via Delancey's 'Get Living London' management company:

I believe that those particular homes are designated as student accommodation: hopefully they will be opened in time for the start of the academic year in September.

The student accommodation is already open - Portchester House:

Yes: it's open in the sense that people can take out contracts (and many levels are already sold out), but given that we are in July, there is nobody there yet, and barriers are still in place.

Come September (when the academic year begins) I expect the barriers to be removed and the students to arrive.

I have to say, though, that at prices ranging from 279 to 435 per week for a studio flat, we can expect rather wealthy students to move in...

No - the student accommodation block (entrance on NKR to the left of the loading bay) has been occupied since last September. It's already been in use for a full academic year.

It's the general rental accommodation with the entrances on Elephant Road that's still empty.

Ever been down to Heygate Street apartments or the Brandon Street townhouses at night? I jog by there every so often. It's heart breaking / infuriating to see all these beautiful family homes empty, with no lights on anywhere.

There are definitely more and more people living in the apartments on Heygate Street, going by stuff appearing on balconies and in windows.
