TFL have just announced that they propose to make Shad Thames one way as a curious part of the CS4 cycle route, making it more difficult for vehicles and cyclists to exit the whole Shad Thames area. The reason given is 'This would improve the performance of the junction for all road users and allow simpler crossings for pedestrians across Tooley Street and Jamaica Road with reduced wait times.' This appears to be another case of tfl looking for a problem to solve when one does not exist. Last year there was a proposal to ban turning into Queen Elizabeth street from Tower Bridge road, and it was withdrawn after multiple local protests. I hope that there will be similar protests to this new proposal.
There is also a proposal 'Eastbound general traffic lane between Queen Elizabeth Street and Tower Bridge Road replaced by the one-way cycle track', but I do not fully understand this.

It's about time someone started considering pedestrians.

It's not a very busy stretch of road and fairly narrow so I don't really have much of an issue with this proposal, a lot of cyclists will inevitably ignore the one way restriction and traffic lights anyway to get a shortcut to the CS4 from TBR .
