Good afternoon all.

Great Suffolk Street Parade

As a professional horticulturist & gardener with a wealth of experience from planting for Tom Stuart-Smith and looking after family homes, residential & commercial developments, I am seeking advice on whether Southwark offers grants to “Green” our streets.

I have the support of many of the business owners along the parade of shops including Terrys Cafe etc and think it would look beautiful to add some clever planting with appropriate planters.

As well as creating an aesthetic - it will enhance the space for business owners along the street - supporting local independent businesses.

Any direction would be appreciated.

Southwark has the The Cleaner Greener Safer programme that awards grants for such projects.

But the application deadline for the 2018/19 period expired last October.

This is their website.

Would Bankside Open Spaces Trust be able to help?
They've worked on so many greening transformations in the borough.

There are also lots of small grants available and you may be able to get S106 money. I think have a discussion with Cllr Adele Morris.

Might be worth getting in touch with the National Park City folk who aim to encourage these activities in future. http://www.nationalparkcity.london
