Hi
We are considering primary school options for our child. There's a few threads on the various state schools such as Charles Dickens etc.. but little recent info on LCS (London Christian School in Tabard Street). Any parent could share thoughts/ experiences?
Thank you

Our son has been at LCS since he was 3, going into year 2 next week (age 6). It is a fantastic school, small with a very family feeling. The standards are high, kids are very well behaved and go to good secondary schools. Children are happy and know all the teachers and kids in other classes. The headteacher is very good too. Highly recommend it.

Out of curiosity, how is the "Christian" part expressed in the school? Is there an emphasis on religion? Just wondering...

This from the school's website:

Quote:
Our carefully crafted curriculum is built around a traditional Biblical Christian understanding of the world and human nature

Does that mean its curriculum is Creationist and a rejection of Darwin's theories on evolution?

Perhaps by 'Biblical Christian' they mean that they emphasize the teachings and philosophy found in the New Testament, instead of strictly adhering to what one finds in the Old Testament.

Religion is a personal thing, so youre the boss of that.

My concerns about LCS would be more around:
- the small premises. Not much room for the children, and;
- the very small numbers of children. Id not be sure that it would be so good for a childs long term development to be in such a small community. Id have concerns about the range of opportunities, friends and experiences available during their time there, and Id also be concerned about how a child who went to such a small school might handle the transition to (a typically MUCH bigger) secondary school.

Just my thoughts. I know some current and ex LCS parents who speak well of the school, proving that were all different.

...if you press it, they will come.
