Oh no! Please not another hideous development like their efforts at Vauxhall.

They are going to build the same development with some minor (internal) changes, apparently.
Great news - it'll be a fantastic addition, makes improving Blackfriars Bridge Road all the more urgent (perhaps removing crossing because of a 'lack of demand' is a bit dumb in the midst of this?

At last it seems that the tower at One Blackfriars Road (formerly known as the Beetham Tower) may soon be started see:

Does anybody know about the fate of the adjacent 20 Blackfriars Road site (planning permission was granted for 2 adjacent towers on this site) which was bought over by Circleplane two or three years ago.

I was at Bankside Residents Forum tonight and they'll be trying to organise an exhibit/meeting with the developers, to give people a further opportunity to discuss this one.

The old plan was for "32 Shared Ownership apartments on-site in the Rennie Street building and Off-site provision of Social Rented accommodation within the borough". The new plan is for "A financial contribution to the provision of affordable housing in the borough". So that's pie in the sky then for affordable housing for buyers and renters.
Wonder if Southwark will ever get a grip on actual provision of truly affordable housing or will they just keep going down the path of endless deferment?
