The study involves looking at the effect of stress on the speed of wound healing. Only males are included for reasons of steroid hormone levels, which differ between females and males and show considerable more variation in females. Participants should be free from steroid medication, and should not suffer from any chronic skin disorder (e.g. atopic eczema or psoriasis).

performed at the upper arm under local anaesthesia by
- providing saliva cortisol samples
- filling in a set of questionnaires
- attending 3 short follow-up ultrasound examinations of
the wound site
You would have to come to our laboratory on Guy's Campus on 5 occasions, which vary in duration between 20 and 60 minutes.
