My craving for 'real' bagels used to mean trekking up to Brick Lane. Now I have only to go round the corner to Tower Bridge Road, where one of the ex-Brick Lane bakers has started up his own business. The range of bagels on offer is impressive, the quality is second-to-none, and the salt beef is divine! Oh, and the cookies are pretty tasty too! p.s. I don't have shares in the place.

BRILLIANT! I too make a regular trek up to Brick Lane for their bagels, but hopefully not any more! Whereabouts on TBR is it, and what's it called?

It's called 'Tower Bridge Bagel Bakery' and its towards the Bricklayer's Arms end of TBR, on the right hand side of the road (if you're walking towards the BArms). It's usually open between 8am and 8pm (except Saturdays and Jewish holidays).

is it me or does the bloke in the preparation section of the website look like he's got unsavoury plans for those bagels?

plain bagels are 50% more expensive than bagel bake on brick lane.....
