Not quite SE1, but Roots and Shoots in Fitzalan Street are having an apple day from 11am-4pm on 16 October. Fitzalan St is in SE11 but close to the War Museum. For those who dont know it is really quite inspirational. A spare piece of land tucked away behind council blocks which provides horticultural training for young people with learning difficulties as well as educational facilities including a wild life garden for local schools. It is also a way of getting out of London without travelling as it is very enclosed and peaceful.
As part of the apple day they will be selling or sampling over 50 varieties of apples, pressing apples to make apple juice (chance for SE1ers to get their hands in.) Selling plants and helping the Lions Part actors make a Corn Queen for the following weeks procession to Borough Market
. There will also be a number of stalls selling organic fruit and veg, bread and eggs, crafts and so on.
Worth going to whether you have kids or not.
