Hi guys
I've never been to the Royal Oak before and was looking for somewhere for a traditional Sunday lunch this Sunday, for 7 people, 2 of whom are visiting from Germany.
I've seen lots of complimentary stuff on here (and was also tempted by the thought of Sherry Trifle which I have not had since my mother used to make it when I was little).
So I rang up and a Scottish man took my booking and asked if I was sure it was the Royal Oak on Tabard St I wanted as apparently people have booked before thinking it was a different Royal Oak.....
Is this the same Royal Oak you all talk about, and do you think it's suitable for a traditional Sunday lunch for our German visitors?
I had originally booked the Garrison which I love but once the numbers increased they couldn't accommodate us.

It's a terrible pub. Germans definitely wouldn't enjoy it.

Although I didn't know you could book there.

...if you press it, they will come.

I have seen tables with 'reserved' notices on in the Royal Oak, so I assume booking is possible for Sunday lunch.

But you wouldn't want to, would you. Considering how not nice it is there ;0)

No, absolutely correct Ivanhoe. I would'nt touch the place with yours, despite the lure of sherry with a bit of trifle.

teeny bit of sherry. scarcely there, really.

(and there's nothing wrong with mine, thank you)

That was a reflection on the RO, not yours.

[Stadtler] : I heard it was awfull!
[Waldorf] : Absolutely Terrible!
[Stadtler] : Probably the worst place I've ever had Sunday lunch!
Waldorf] : I'm not eating there again!
