Patisserie Lila and their 'minimum charge'

That was the really weird thing. On the day I went in and had my P.L. experience there was one other table occupied and I was desperate to eat!
So I really didn't get any logic behind the being so rude and then attempting to shortchange me several pounds.
And the food was poor.

is there anywhere official to complain too.. it sounds like its bordering on abuse..
all the places must be registered with the council..
the more complaints the better.. they would have to send an inspector ?!?!?

I'm certainly not advocating rudeness (I've never been to Patisserie Lila and on the back of these reviews have no intention whatsoever of doing so), but surely the proprietor doesn't have to be nice to her customers if she doesn't want to be?
Seems a strange business plan granted, but I think she should be entitled to carry on her business as she sees fit (provided there is no discrimination, and seeing how many people have experienced her it sounds like there is not!).
I think people should vote with their feet, rather than making any sort of "official complaint" about things like this. I would hope the authorities have more pressing matters to deal with...

This place is a good example for how a seriously bad place can still make good business: Because the “The Patisserie Lila” is conveniently located near the bustling, fashionable Borough Market, passer-bys will always be lured in - just like it happened to us. Once inside, however, we experienced a service that could hardly have been worse: As we were “only two people”, the sour-faced waitress asked us to join people at another table - which surprised us but it did not put us off. When we had a look at the menu, we were a bit shocked by the rather unreasonably high prices - but we ordered a coffee and chocolate cookies anyway; only to be told by a truly pissed-off waitress that we had to order more to stay which we found very odd indeed. When we pointed out that we were not too hungry really, we were told to leave. Quite an experience! Don't go - this place is the worst rip-off I have experienced since I came to London in 2004.

locals don't go there...only tourists, and that is the end of that

Do we think they know how poor their reputation is? It's tempting to print off this whole topic and send it for the Manager's comments. But given that almost every customer is a one-off visitor to the Market, they probably don't care.

Andrew look at James' post on page 3.
She presumably is aware of subsequent posts doesn't care.
