So anyone else cheesed off by bin men at 6.30/7 am on Union Street
? Annoyance superseded today by a roadwork's truck starting work clearing rubble at 7am till 7.30 - engine running, huge scrape noises as the big grapple collects the rubble and loads it onto the back of the truck.
I went out this morning and the guy making the noise said he was just doing his job and to ring the contractors - Liam Chivers Civil Engs. The guy there, Mat, said they were allowed to do 'urgent repairs' whenever they want and only a small part of London is covered by the 8 o'clock start constraint.
I rang the council today to confirm my suspicions that they shouldn't start so early and apparently they shouldn't be working before 8. However the only thing to be done, apparently, is to ring the noise team at the time of the offence - nothing can be done retrospectively.
Great. I'll try this next time, but my suspicion is that they'll have gone by the time the noise team get round.
