You will be glad to hear that the alien invaders from the Med have been replaced with... wait for it... palm trees! I kid you not. I doubt if even our friendly neighbourhood eco warrior(s) will bother defending these.

You will be pleased to hear that people are complaining about the palm trees. It is feared that when they grow bigger kids will trip over them and hurt themselves, eg have their eyes poked out. I passed the complaints on to Lambeth but no response. The current approach
where Lambeth consults with "stakeholders" rather than park users is frustrating. Though it is nice that some money is being invested (though I seem to remember drafting both external bids). It is as if they think local people are so dim that they don't know what their kids will enjoy and so we need people like Groundwork Southwark and South Bank Employers Group to decide for us.
(This sounds tetchy but I really do not see stekeholder group members making the effort to use the park at weekends, so do not see why they feel they are so qualified to make decisions on our behalf without consulting properly.)
So as long as Rabbie describes it as the anti-leylandii and palm tree league, he should have no problem recruiting.
