It is an expensive area to buy a flat, but certainly not to live.
As there is so much council housing and tenants on low income , general shopping prices are very reasonable.
And you can haggle in Bermondsey Market or East St. and if
you're really desperate, Tescos on Cheapside doesn't open on
Sunday so they sell everything off at half price.
A neighbour of mine goes to Borough Market
at closing time
and comes back with all manner of produce at rock bottom prices.
And you can really nick a bargain in the Bermondsey antique market if you go early or late on a friday and haggle like hell.
