I was there the other day, to have a wee drink and lap up the view as the sun goes down etc...

Of course, I was expecting the worst - it is the Founders Arms after all.

BUT, to my utter surprise, the staff were plentiful and pleasant. The beer not half bad. I didn't risk the food, but I witnessed some people eating and not looking both ill & cheated (as per usual).

Thought worth noting.

I was pleasantly surprised on my last visit too, not least about the late closing time on a Friday. We had a charcuterie platter which was very good, all the better that it was ordered only about 40 minutes before closing time. I was also pleased that there was no minimum spend or surcharge for paying by card.

Coffee is still overpriced though, and the woman usually at the coffee counter seems a bit distant and strange.

it's one of those places i've walked past lots of times, but never been in, as it always looks like a tourist trap, and not necessarily any good. I do like Youngs beer, so may have to try it some time.
