Prince Andrew and Qatari prime minister to open Shard on 5 July

Does the choice of Prince Andrew to open Britain's tallest tower suggest that the Queen and Prince Charles consider it to be a blight on the London skyline, or am I reading too much into his selection.

You may have already seen this on the twitter stream.

For someone with acrophobia, (e.g., me) it's difficult to watch any one working at height, but horribly fascinating.

Anyone else see the C4 programme tonight on the Shard construction? Amazing!

Yes, I watched it - my stomach and knees are still wobbling!

It was fascinating to watch how much they have accomplished, in a comparatively short time. Rather like the programme - 44 minutes covering 4 years.
