Good pubs in Bermondsey?

The Angel Inn in Bermondsey Wall East is well worth a visit, having recently been refurbished. Also does good but basic food. Unfortunately the winelist is very limited and consists of one choice of red and one of white. Both choices are poor quality and rather overpriced.

I like the Rose - especially for a late drink :o)

Yep, I would vote for the Rose too - had some top nights in there. Got some really quirky decor, which starts to make sense in a frightening way after about 4.5 pints of Guinness

Oh yes. I really cannot vouch for it sober, as I am always heading down there after spending some quality time in a different pub. So by that time, the night is beautiful, my companions are witty and we are all great friends, the world is just a wonderful place, and tomorrow morning is miles away.

The Rose is the only 'alternative' boozer in the area. Paul, the guvnor, loves his music. On Sunday the pub was being used for a rock video, featuring a band called Brigade. The mural, which covers one wall, contains a riddle. I found it recently but I'm not telling, took me three years...

I am glad other people here like the Rose - it really is a fine pub - and for me one of the few reasons I have found to head over from Borough to Bermondsey. :o)

Is the Angel the Sam Smith's pub on the river? Sorry, my mind's gone blank! Anyway, if so, it's a great pub and, being Sam Smith's, is exceptionally good value for money for decent ale.
