Next month Tate Modern celebrates its first birthday. But what impact has the phenomenally successful gallery had on the people who live and work in the Bankside area? We're preparing a feature for the May issue of "in SE1", and we'd love to hear your comments on Tate Modern's first year.

The gallery may well have been an outstanding success [inside ] but as one who uses the south & north banks of the thames [ for exercise ] find the outside aspect dreadfull [ day & night ] and find this amazing new addition to SE1 has done nothing to improve the area 'looks wise'.

1] is something planned to make site look attractive and less like a dark satanic mill [ or power station ]

2] how about some lighting at night and less of the bloody stupid light box on top of smoke stack!

3] who was the complete idiot responsible for not doing something about the outside in the first place? [ probably has gained an award if the critics have any power [ art that is ]

4] object of my derision is rapidly gaining popularity as worst building on thames by boat tour guides unfortunately saved from no 1 position by national theatre as but maybe not for long.

hello, does anybody out there have any news on the redevelopment of the paper merchants at bankside/hopton street? I am trying to find out how high the building is going to be in relation to Falcon Court.....
