Saw an article in the London Lite about the remains they found at Bermondsey Square, fascinating. It also mentioned the there will be a restaurant with a partial glass floor so that you can see some of the walls of the old abbey. Does anybody know what the restaurant is likely to be?

I understand that the supermarket is going to be a Sainsbury's?

There was a presentation about this at Bermondsey Village Hall on Monday.

I think it's a bit early to know what sort of restaurant, but they are taking about writing access requirements into the lease so that people will be able to go inside (eg at certain times of day) and see the abbey remains without going for a meal.

The base of one of the towers will be visible (pictured here - )

Apparently the supermarket operator will be confirmed in the next couple of weeks.

On the subject of Bermondsey Square, there is an event this weekend to unveil the new hoardings:

whatever supermarket it is, lets hope it isn't a 'local', 'metro', 'central' etc. where they can charge more.
That's so good about the glass floor thing. I've been saying to friends that they should do that. It seems much more common in places like Chester and York.
