Scenes in Bridget Jones's Diary were filmed in Borough Market and other SE1 locations.

Have you seen the film? Did you recognise any SE1 locations? Again, we'd love to hear from you.

Yes, I saw the film on Friday night and instantly recognised the arched windows in Bridget's flat as being the top floor of The Globe pub in Bedale Street.

Also during the filming they converted Turnips arch into a newsagent and the totally realistic Greek restaurant - in which they had the fight - was No 5 Bedale Street. The taxi rank shop is now where the "pie and mash" shop has just opened up. All in Bedale Street.

But where was Mr Darcy when he bought the new diary at the end of the film ???????????????

Kind Regards - Simon Tattersfield

I saw it yesterday - great to see so many SE1 locations.

Shad Thames also appears in the film.

I saw them filming a restaurant scene at the Cantina restaurant on Shad Thames but I think it must have ended up on the cutting room floor as I didn't recognise it in the film.

Conran Restaurants were thanked in the credits, and Bridget and Daniel were clearly in Shad Thames when they left the restaurant.

The diary was bought at the Montblanc shop on Cornhill, part of the Royal Exchange building and right next to downmarket Banjies sandsich shop! (Just a 5 minute sprint from SE1!!!)

I've a hunch that Hugh Grant's flat (or at least possibly a stuido) in the film is set in one of the loft flats in Clink Street. When Bridget leaves the flat the cobbles look like those of that street, and the view from his bedroom window over looks the green rail bridge in between Southwark and London Bridge. What do you reckon?

BTW... A large BBC film crew were in the market on Saturday last week filming a David Suchet period drama for later in the year. Apparently the pathway running past Turnips is the setting of a Victorian rape scene.

Yep, thought that was clink st (defin near Tower Bridge - great walk along it to the Brahmah Tea shop!).

Obviously everyone noticed the large ammounts of Borough Market and Southwark Cathedral in the first shot (with all the snow!) and elsewhere.

I have yet to see the film, but I think you are right about clink wharf, They were filming in there at the same time as the rest of the production.

Incidentally, it was the huge apartment on the 3rd floor with the double height ceilings, which is now vacant and available to rent at I think 2000 a week.

Borough market is cool but as you say Thurs to Sat. Supermarkets are super because they are open convenient hours. I don't think it will affect borough market much, although it'll affect iceland on lower marsh, have you tried their strudle?
