Visited the market at the weekend and was so impressed by the newly refurbished section next to Southwark Cathedral.

What an improvement on the dirty old portacabins that used to be there! I hope that it now becomes part of the food market on a permanent basis, such a beautiful building now that it has been restored.

Presumably this part will escape the Thameslink axe now that they have spent so much money on doing it up?!

That area is to be returned to its original use [i.e for wholesale traders], and as far as I know that plan has not changed. I believe the traders currently occupying the 'un-refurbished' bit of the market [between BHS and the existing railway line] which will be obliterated if the viaduct is built, are to move in to the refurbished section sometime during the new year.
