06-AP-1349 for City Link Court is for a 6 storey hotel (one additional floor) to replace the withdrawn application for a 7 storey Apart-hotel at the end of City Walk
I've just found out about this new Apart hotel. Some of the City Walk residents met today 20/01/07 to discuss objecting further to the planning permission. Despite receiving a number of objections from local residents, the first stage of the planning has gone through.
There are a number of points to consider:
- Sunlight and enclosure (some apartments will receive 20% less sunlight, which is against planning guidelines)
- Additional Traffic
- Noise and disturbances
- Parking & security (there is no provision for parking for either hotel guests or employees. Apparently they are planning to take down the bollards at each end of city walk to allow loading / unloading)
- Unsatisfactory appearance
The case will now go to a committee on 6th Feb 2007 at 7pm
If you want to contact the case officer and the manager at Southwark City Council:
Case Manager: Tim King 0207 525 5424
Case Officer: Andre Verster 0207 525 5457
How to comment on an application
Written comments of objection or support should be sent to the council by letter or email.
Petitions and objection letters need to be received by the council one week before the meeting on the 6th Feb.

We will be meeting again next Saturday in the Woolpack Pub on Bermondey Street at 12pm, if anybody would like to help with blocking the planning or sign the petition.
