School Disco nights tend not to be in venues right next door to a school/nursery. I guess my concern (in the current climate of high levels of problem drinking by young people) is the association of school+alcohol. Also, I have visions (which I'm prepared to accept may be totally off the mark) of bar staff dressed up like "sexy St. Trinian's pupils" or Britney Spears in that "Hit Me Baby One More Time" video: here my concern is the sexualisation of schoolgirls. Is "playground" some kind of euphemism, if so??

More generally, even if it is some innocent (albeit bizarrely-themed venture) it seems like an odd place to have picked.

It says 'School themed' not 'school disco' so I'm guessing they've probably bought a job-lot of old school desks and built the theme around it. I think 'The Old School Yard' is a great name and I think 'playground' implies it's aiming to be relaxed. i agree though that it's an odd location to be aiming for the weekend BHS crowd.

Maybe the book group should meet there--we could do dramatic readings, perhaps.

Wow

there seems to be a lot of ideas about what this place might look like.

Glad I found this forum. I will write a new thread to tell you all about what we have done. There is still a massive amount to do but I hope that your input can help us get there.

Many thanks
