Hello and welcome pearlykingjim!

Forum member TAK is interested in stories about how things were in the old days and - bless him - thought I might be too young to help as I was born in 1958. It's a long time since I've been considered too young for anything so I was really quite chuffed (although the smooth talking cashier in Sainsbury's High Holborn asked me if I was old enough to buy cigarettes recently which TOTALLY made my day). Even though you're only 3 years younger, it sounds as though you have a lot more family history in Southwark than I do (we're first generation English from Irish parents). I'm sure you'd have a few stories to tell him though!

Enjoy the forum. We should meet for pie and mash!
