My mother in law was born in The Guinness buildings (no longer there) Lambeth and is desperate to trace her unknown father.
Her mother had a son by husband no 1 name Madigan, met Caroles father (a married man at the time) and had her 5/8/1944 (then divorced Madigan). She subsequently married Mummery and had 3 further children.
Her birth certificate does not have his name on it but he sought contact with her over the years. Her mother refused to communicate with him. My mother in law recalls a man visiting her at the Guinness buildings when she was 15 but her mother told him never to contact them again.
A few years later she asked her mother for details so she could contact him independently and her mother refused to give any details etc.

Her mother died 5 yrs ago and she has since tried to search but doesn't know where to start. He is probably not alive now as he would be about 90 but she knows he had 3 sons and she would love to find these half brothers despite the delicate history. We do know that his wife knew of her birth at the time.

We know he was a fireman at Kennington fire station at the time and lived in Clever St.
His name was either Jack Day / May or Ted Day / May.

It's a long shot but she has been very ill recently and it is a subject that comes up a lot.....a longing to fill in ones blood history.

If anyone does have any re-collection of these names or knows any ex-firemen, it would be great to get any info. Thank you.
