Wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere for lunch on the weekend where you can eat outside (heard that it's going to warm up again) or maybe on the river. Something casual but tasty perhaps gastropub style?

For lunch plus spectacle you could try somewhere on Butlers Wharf - the 18th century replica ship Gotheburg is going under Tower Bridge at 2pm and you'd get an excellent view.

The Chop House set lunch (in the bar, not the restaurant) is good value and you should be able to get a seat outside with a view of events at the bridge.

There are a couple of places at Gabriels Wharf - I've been to the Italian which was fine - excellent Sambuca as far as my blurry memory recalls...!

Or the Pont de la tour offer of all wines at winemerchant - rather than restaurant - prices on Sundays (might be just evenings).

The River Terrace overlooking the river at the back of Somerset House has just re-opened for the summer. It does some specials at lunch that are around the 14 mark, but lots of cheaper plates as well. Beautiful setting, and should not be as busy as most places as not on a real beaten path.
