Nature Notes

Wow...but with all these howling gales I'm surprised they get up to my terrace. Nevertheless they're very welcome. I also have a huge nest of winged ants. It really IS nice to have some wildlife...if you come and visit my terrace overlooking the sea in Tel Aviv you'll see my dear little humming birds dipping their long beaks into the flowers, never mind all the sparrows and a dove or two.

Those big flying ants Jackie are driving me bonkers..everywhere in my kitchen, a friend told me that they only live for a day, well if thats the case my ones must have found the secret of everlasting life as they have been here for about a week. My Mum always called them storm flies so I dont know if they are ants or not, but they are a nuisance.
