I ate at Ev a few weeks ago during my son's lunch hour. We shared a plate of delicious food from the deli counter, had a basket of bread and I had a glass of quite drinkable white wine. Lovely setting outside and the bill was in the region of £8.50. After my son went back to work I had a coffee and a sweet pastry from the counter, great value for money and a nice treat. O.K, the pigeon wandered indoors, but that can happen anywhere, I know it shouldn't, but Ev seemed very well stocked with food to eat from the deli counter or a great choice from the shelves ...and... the loos were nice snd clean.
Re the extra charge on the bottle of wine...a difficult one but I agree with Laphroaig, for a start if the wine was on the shelf at one price in the deli shop for customers to buy and take away, why shouldn't the Deli charge corkage for the customer to enjoy the bottle of wine in their premises...the comfortable surroundings, the use of their glasses and clearing away afterward plus disposal of the bottle. We all know that the wine in some eateries could be bought for a couple of pounds in some off-licences or Tescos, yet we are happy to pay a few quid more in a restaurant for the same wine if we are enjoying a nice meal.

Mac, I've haven't tried EV's wine, so I can't comment, but if you want an alternative to Sainsbury's and M&S for an evening bottle of wine, please try Waterloo Wine. (confusingly, nearer borough than waterloo)
(61 Lant Street, Borough, London SE1 1QL). I have no connection to the business but literally live a stone's throw away and I don't buy wine anywhere else now. They always have a good selection of under a fiver brands, but I tend to go for the £5-£7, of which they have loads. They also have mega-expensive ones and are very friendly and knowledgable.
