I'm looking for some hardwood logs somewhere in SE1. Ideally, they would be oak, birch, or beech. They need to be recently cut, and ideally would be between 10 and 20cm in diameter, and about half a metre long. Ideally, they would also cost little or nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

Thanks

Can no one help me? I've got a problem with getting wood.

Look Birdie, I'm the one taking the wii out of me, not you.

Now, let's get back to solving my wood problem. I was hoping someone might say: "we're cutting down a tree", or "the council tree cutters are at work on X Street".

If you set one up that clearly I am obliged to knock it down.

I'm afraid I don't know of any tree felling taking place. Sorry.

I saw the council pollarding (correct term ?) trees on Keeton's Rd this morning. That's the road which runs along the side of Bermondsey tube station.

What do you want them for? [Obviously I can offer no help at all, but I'm very curious.]

Thanks Martin.

Your Ladyship, I'm very happy to tell you what I want them for, but don't you think it's more fun if I give you three guesses first?

illegal bonfire?

No. Two more guesses to go.

(If it were a bonfire, I wouldn't care what sort of logs they were. I specifically need hardwood ones for my mystery purpose).
