We've recently had the road outside our house resurfaced and the single yellow line has been replaced with double yellow lines. Does anyone know if it's legal for the council to this without notification?

Mon,

It depends on the Traffic Management Order for that street what should be there.

You can check the TMO on demand at the One Stop shop on Walworth Rd,assuming you are in Southwark, although go to the offices reception as they can contact the parking team for you.

There will be a drawing in the file showing what the lines and signs should be.

he's right, they can't just change it.
if you can prove it should be only single, and that they've made it double without telling anyone, then it should only be single.

depends what it used to be, and what the council say it should be.
