We're holding an event in a venue on Tooley Street and would like to recommend low cost hotels and hostels in the near area for guests who will be staying overnight.

If anyone can recommend anything, preferably below the £50 pppn mark, that'd be great. Names and phone number if possible, website even better!

Thanks

Laura

Have you looked at the Hotels section of this site?

I'd imagine you'd struggle to find anything at that price apart from the backpackers' hostels in Borough High Street.

For £24 a night B&B your mates can sleep in the old St Pauls choir school (now a YHA hostel - called the "City" branch on their website). Can't [be bothered to learn to] make hyperlinks in here, but here's the details:

and a walk "home" over the Millenium Bridge when it's all it up would be a lovely way to get back from Tooley St (IMO).

I've never seen the place, and you might want to check it out, but it's YHA so should be simple but clean at the least.

P.S. When you said £50 pppn, I was tempted to say that 5 or 10 of your friends could kip on our floor for the night to pay for the insurance on my wife's scooter ;-)

...if you press it, they will come.

The Rotherhithe hostel may have more spaces available than the City one and is just a bus ride away

The premier lodge at the Anchor does rooms for £70 per room per night. If your people are prepared to double up then that cost isn't bad - and if you have a large number of people you might be able to get them to do a deal for you.

and how much is the travelodge (or whatever it's called) at County Hall?

And if it's holidays, then the residences behind Tate Bankside let out rooms.

In fact, I'm going to start a new thread for any posh people who want to stay in SE1 and pay a lot of money for it!!

(Oh, and have you thought about getting them to all club together, pay £50 each, and buy a flat in Metro Central outright ;-)

On weekdays the Travel Inn at County Hall is £82.95 per room per night.

The Travel Inn in Tower Bridge Road is closer to Tooley Street and a little bit cheaper
