Hi there, i've just recently moved to the area, and wondered if anyone and everyone who knows the whereabouts of gyms/yoga/pilates/classes/Salsa lessons/Badminton/Meditation etc could post them here - that way we can all make a more informed choice.
My contribution to start things off is:

A Martial Arts/gym called Tokei:
29.95 per month - no joining fee
http://www.tokeicentre.org/index.shtml

SOHO gyms:
About 50 ish a month I think
http://www.sohogyms.com/?page=borough

Colombo Centre:
About 26 a month if you're a resident I think
http://www.jubileehallclubs.co.uk/colombo_centre/cc_frameset.htm

Bankside Gym:
50 ish a month I think, and there's a joining fee
http://www.thebanksidehealthclub.co.uk/

Any other places in this area, INCLUDING one-off classes in Yoga/Pilates/Salsa will be gratefully received!!

Thanks,
Julia

Thanks - that's got loads of other info on it - please add any other one-off classes, or if you've found a gym (or class etc) that's already on the list to be particularly good, please comment upon why you like it.
Thanks

Hi Julia

The Allwell Centre (http://www.allwellcentre.com) just off Bermondsey Street has lots going on - strength and conditioning training and chi gung. Check it out - it's highly professional and good value.

There are yoga sessions on Wednesday lunchtimes at the Coin Street neighbourhood centre from 1-2pm. The sessions are run by Aniko Nagy who has been teaching Zen Essence yoga for twelve years. 30 for five week blocks.

There used to be really good yoga sessions in a building at the top of Bermondsey street (almost opposite the tunnel). They were advertised in Time out at the time and different classes were on every day.

There is a brilliant pilates class at Hankey hall in Hankey place which is just off Long Lane every Thursday at 10am. It is closed now for August. The price is 2 per session and the teacher is very well trained. She completely got rid of my lower back pains and I now sport a flatter tummy! She is back again early September.

loannaflex - who do I contact regarding this class? I'd love to have another go at Pilates; the last low-cost class I went to closed a couple of years ago.

Thank you.

Hi Julia

Welcome to SE1 - it's a fantastic place!

I'm a personal trainer locally in SE1 and I also run a bootcamp class on a Thursday evening at Tanner Street / Bermondsey Street Park. Find out more / latest offers at www.fitns.co.uk.

We're looking to expand to include one morning a week as well very soon.

Hope to see you there to join in the fun and games!

Nikki
