500th Edition of 'In Our Time'
Melvyn Bragg and his guests discuss the problem of free will - the extent to which we are able to choose our actions.
Really interesting discussion, but if you're looking for an answer.........!
If what you do is determined by what you are, and conversely what you are determines what you do, but there is nothing you can do about what you are, therefore you are not responsible for what you do.
If you believe in God and God knows everything, then long before you're born God knows if you will go to heaven or 'hell'. Therefore nothing you do in your lifetime will alter the outcome. So anyone who believes in God cannot believe in Free Will as the ending is known before the beginning.
