OMG this whole thread is making me hungry! I love spotted dick - thank goodness one hardly ever sees it because I'd be the shape of a suet pudding by now. Something my other half loves is "mozarella in carrozza" - mozarella in carriages (mozarella in bread and fried). Imagine all those little cheeses with their top hats and canes sitting in the Lord Mayor's golden carriage being conveyed through town.

hellsbells I suspect you are becoming a little carried away here with the mozarella. Though I would rather see these deep fried carriages in the Lord Mayors show than passing one's lips. Spotted dick, treacle pudding etc ditto. One can dream though......

In our staff canteen at work (or Partners' Dining Room to give it the proper name!) we are often treated to spotted dick, bread and butter pudding, jam roly poly, eve's pudding, syrup sponge, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate sponge, coffee sponge and various other stodgy, heavy, old fashioned hot puddings, always with custard for the princely sum of 22p. Just one choice a day of course. (Sometime's there's rice pudding with jam but it's usually terrible so best avoided) And the cold offering often features Eaton mess!
