New and improved?

Just making a shopping list and noticed how many products in the cupboard seem to say 'New', 'New and improved' and variants thereof. I am going to make a conscious effort today not to choose anything displaying such text, if that's possible, apart from new potatoes.

Makes me smile matey. If it's "new" how can it be an "improved" version of the old? - and when does "new" become the same stuff they were pushing last time?

And I bought this inferior stuff of the same brands only last week- if only I'd waited...
