I'm finding it too quiet at work this week, so I've started looking at this quiz I've had sitting on my desktop for ages - a guess the lyrics jobby. I can't be bothered looking up answers on the net - anyone wanna join in?

Who sang:

"That's all right - it's only money"
"She's the hunter, you're the fox"
"Hey driver - where we going?"
"Take me somewhere I can breathe"
"In the desert you can't remember your name"

88 it's such a fine and natural sight
89 I've been kicked around since I was born
90 I've got sunshine in a bag
91 I've travelled the world and the seven seas
92 January, February, March, April, May

102 learn to speak Arapaho
103 let go of your heart, let go of your head
104 let's do it like they do on the discovery channel
105 let's head for home now, everything I have is yours
106 let's play twister, let's play risk
107 Lewis no more
108 listen to iron maiden baby
109 living it up as we're going down
110 lonely as I am, together we cry
111 looking from a window above, it's like a story of love
112 love in the nineties is paranoid
113 lover of the Russian queen
114 maybe I didn't treat you quite as good as I should
115 maybe I'm just like my mother, she's never satisfied
116 my loneliness is killing me
117 my mom does more drugs than I do
118 New York, London, Paris, Munich
119 no need to run and hide
120 no romance, no romance, no romance for me
121 nobody loves no one
122 oh daddy dear you know you're still number one

127 pack it up, pack it in, let me begin
128 pictures came and broke your heart
129 played it till my fingers bled
130 plays by sense of smell
131 pray for the other ones
132 pretend that you love me
133 pushed around and kicked around I was a lonely boy
134 put your tiny hand in mine
135 remember me to one who lives there
136 restless lover, spread your wings
137 rows of houses are bearing down on me
138 sail away, sail away, sail away
139 sex and drugs are the new gods
140 she can't walk but she's trying
141 she stands up when she plays her piano
142 she stood there laughing
143 she was on a 48 hour fast, just water and black tea
144 she'll provide you with drinks and theatrical winks
145 she's giving me excitations
146 she's got it, yeah baby she's got it
147 she's into superstition, black cats and voodoo dolls
148 she's the hunter, you're the fox
149 so please be gentle with this heart of mine
150 so you're Brad Pitt
151 someone left the cake out in the rain
153 start spreading the news
152 stop **** with me
154 strumming my pain with his fingers
155 suddenly we're strangers
156 superstar DJ, here we go
157 take me somewhere I can breath
158 temptation is on his way
159 that's all right, it's only money
160 the girl is all right
161 the good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
162 the man with the Midas touch
163 the next time someone's teaching why don't you get taught
164 the sun's gonna shine on everything you do
165 the twenty first century is yesterday
166 there may be trouble ahead
167 there's a gun in your hand and it's pointing at your head
168 these are the things I can do without
169 things you do don't seem real
170 this Romeo is bleeding
171 thought she was James Dean for a day
172 through the hard times and the good
173 trust the ocean, you'll never drown
174 try to walk away and I stumble
175 twisted animator
176 waving your banner all over the place
177 we dress the same ways only our accents change
178 we talk about love, love, love. we talk about love.
179 we're going where the sun shines brightly
180 we're heading for venus
181 what ever I said, whatever I did, I didn't mean it
182 when you coming home dad?
183 where is my friend when I need you most? gone away
184 why do birds suddenly appear every time you are near
185 will we live or will we die?
186 words are very unnecessary
187 you and me and a bottle of wine
188 you and me, you and me, you and me
189 you come and go, you come and go
190 you had a temper like my jealousy
191 you make everything groovy
192 you paid me twenty pounds
193 you saw brigadoons
194 you say to me I don't talk enough but when I do I'm a fool
195 you should have stayed at home yesterday
196 you should keep on aiming high
197 you took my dreams from me, when I first found you
198 your love's like a slow train coming
199 your money or your life
200 you've got me wrapped around your finger

I would agree with Ace of Base and All saints, as posted by Lurker, but ..........."In the desert..." was America, although Neil Diamond may have done it too.
Tuesday 30 December 2003 4.17pm
I think he means Neil Young. I'd always assumed it was him singing, as I didn't know anyone else had that distinctive wail, but I see you're right Bill.

Ok so it was America although Neil Diamond - yes Diamond - did a cover version.

Why "he"?

Answers to the others please.

oh, and it looks like lurker will be setting the SE1 cyberpopquiz, so you can stay in James and enjoy the action

sorry A. no offence meant.

we're not too PC in my pond, and assume all lurkers are masculine until they get a proper name and (implied) sex (which, as TLMJJ keeps proving, may still confuse the rest of us and end up in mistakes)

I'll have a go at your quiz if you cut out a manageable section (10 Qs? 20Qs??) so that I can read it and the answer box on the same screen.

It'd be a good diversion to have the odd quiz on here IMO.

That should start you off.

I stand for all Lurkers and so am gender-non-specific.

1 ???
2 Jam - That's Entertainment
3 Peter gabriel - Big Time
4 that whiney song by Coldplay
5 ???
6 Bangles - walk like an Egyptian
7 no idea
8 Private Dancer - Tina Turner
9 no idea
10 that whiney song by Simply Red (sonething to do with fairgrounds?)

Do I get a B+ at least?

[can you really stand for all Lurkers?] [ isn't the point that Lurkers don't want to stand at all, otherwise they'd be whatever the opposite of "Lurker" is?]

...there's plenty more c**** in the cup.
